How to convert PNG to BMP
- Add your PNG file: drag it into the box, choose it, or paste it.
- BMP is already selected. Open “Options” if you want to adjust the result.
- Press “Convert”, then “Download” to save your BMP file.
What to expect
- BMP is lossless: the converted image keeps every pixel exactly.
- BMP cannot store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with a background colour: white by default, or any colour you choose.
- You can also resize: enter a width and/or height and the aspect ratio is kept.
- Camera details and location (EXIF) are not carried over; photos are turned upright first.
Limits
Free: files up to 15 MB and 3 conversions per 24 hours. Pro: files up to 500 MB and no daily limit. Pricing
About PNG and BMP
- PNG
- PNG is a lossless image format with full transparency. It is ideal for screenshots, logos and graphics with sharp edges, while photos saved as PNG get large.
- BMP
- BMP is the simple, uncompressed Windows bitmap format. Files are large, but almost any program can open them, including very old ones.
Frequently asked questions
Is the PNG to BMP converter free?
Yes. You can convert 3 files every 24 hours for free, without an account. Pro removes the daily limit.
Are my PNG files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs in your browser with standard web technology, and the file never leaves your device.
Will the BMP file lose quality?
No. BMP stores the image without lossy compression, so the conversion itself loses nothing.
Does BMP keep transparency?
No. BMP cannot store transparency, so those areas are filled with a background colour you can choose.
Can I convert several files at once?
Yes. Add as many files as you like and they are converted one after another. Pro runs up to 3 at the same time and can download all results as one ZIP.
Does it work on my phone?
Yes, in any up-to-date browser. Phones have less memory, so very large files may need a computer.
