Limitations
What Convertolo can't do yet, so nothing comes as a surprise.
Last updated: October 9, 2026
Draft: this page has not been reviewed by a lawyer yet and will be finalised before Convertolo launches. Until then it is not shown to search engines.
Formats not supported yet
- HEIC/HEIF, AVIF and TIFF images
- Video and audio
- Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents
- Text recognition (OCR)
- Opening ZIP, RAR or 7z archives
Images
- Safari can't create WebP files yet; Convertolo says so instead of giving you a different format.
- Animated GIFs: only the first frame is converted.
- Colours are converted to sRGB; embedded colour profiles and metadata (EXIF, location) are not kept.
- Very large images are refused to protect your browser: about 268 megapixels on computers and 16.7 megapixels on phones.
- Encrypted PDFs can be turned into images but not edited by the PDF tools, even if they open without a password.
- Merging and splitting don't keep bookmarks or fillable form fields.
- Pages are chosen by number (no thumbnails yet).
- Up to 300 pages per PDF-to-image conversion on computers (50 on phones).
General
- Everything runs on your device, so speed and the largest workable file depend on its memory.
- Results stay in memory until you remove them or close the page.
- The Free allowance and a stored license belong to one browser; clearing site data resets them.
- Tested regularly in Chrome and Edge on Windows. Firefox, Safari and mobile browsers should work but are not yet tested as thoroughly.
