What to expect

  • JPG uses lossy compression: pick a quality between 10 and 100% (90% by default) to balance file size and detail.
  • Animated GIFs: only the first frame is converted.
  • You can also resize: enter a width and/or height and the aspect ratio is kept.
  • Camera details and location (EXIF) are not carried over; photos are turned upright first.

About GIF and JPG

GIF
GIF is a classic web format best known for short animations. Each frame is limited to 256 colours.
JPG
JPG (also called JPEG) is the most common photo format. It keeps photos small by discarding detail the eye barely notices, and it cannot store transparency.

Frequently asked questions

Is the GIF to JPG converter free?

Yes. You can convert 3 files every 24 hours for free, without an account. Pro removes the daily limit.

Are my GIF files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs in your browser with standard web technology, and the file never leaves your device.

Will the JPG file lose quality?

JPG uses lossy compression. At the default quality of 90% the difference is hard to see; set it to 100% for maximum detail.

Can I convert several files at once?

Yes. Add as many files as you like and they are converted one after another. Pro runs up to 3 at the same time and can download all results as one ZIP.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes, in any up-to-date browser. Phones have less memory, so very large files may need a computer.
